War and Peace in Asia

Honors Experience #1

During the spring semester of my freshman year, I decided to take Dr. Dinshaw Mistry's seminar, War and Peace in Asia: Addressing Contemporary Issues. I chose to take this seminar because I felt like my knowledge of issues on the global stage is still lacking, and I want to take opportunities that I can in college to broaden my horizons. I saw Dr. Mistry's lecture as a perfect way to open those doors for myself. We spent the first few weeks in the class reviewing many of the conflicts involving several Asian countries before moving into the policy building aspects of the course. We spent the next few weeks researching a chosen issue and developing our own solutions for these conflicts. We then were able to present and discuss with our peers. This class provided me with a new perspective on important global issues that are affecting so many people around me, and I was glad to have gotten the opportunity to take this seminar.
